Snow Softens Sound (for Truman Capote) [featuring Jacob Wilson from Kickball]

about

Portland was a buzzkill. it was the middle of winter its freezing and it rained all day every day forever. i was living in the basement of a recording studio. it had one small window that had a big hole in it. i'm always cold and always broke. it was winter in Portland and the city's only function that time of year is to define dreary accurately. rappers were keeping me up all night in the studio outside my room. dudes with pants and electric guitars stumbled all over the place, making the house smell like cigarettes and getting me drunk and/or making me make myself get me drunk. the only person i wanted to spend time with was on the east coast and i stayed stoned always, dreaming of snow that caught on fire and flames that burnt the color of all of autumn and sifted through the leaves of august trees. my eyes became ice, my tongue turned into flannel bed sheets, my teeth became thorns, and farewell sighs of folding fans turned into wind conversing upon the ceiling...or something like that...
